STEP is short for "Systematic Training for
Effective Parenting"

All Are Welcome!  While I am a pastor at First Lutheran Church, these great
materials are not faith based.  In other words
everyone is welcome and will
feel completely included no matter your life journey.

I am married to Cathy (since 1977) and have two children.  Cathy just
finished her degree in Women's Studies at UCLA.  Berkeley graduated from
UCLA.. He is now studying Jazz piano at Manhattan School of Music in New
York..  Kay is in 7th grade and enjoys exploring everything possible.  As a
family, we have been foster parents and have welcomed many children into
our home.  For many reasons, I find these parenting materials a critical part
of my family life.

STEP can help show the way through the tough issues families
face today

Systematic Training for Effective Parenting

America's leading parenting programs--STEP, STEP/teen, Early Childhood
STEP, and Next STEP--are an easy, effective way for you to help parents
improve relationships in their families. For twenty years they have helped
parent educators around the country and the world teach parents the skills
needed for healthy families.

Updated to reflect issues parents face today

STEP has been updated to include more information on topics important to
parents today. Dynamic new videos, an updated parent's handbook, and a
comprehensive leader's resource guide combine to bring you the best in
parenting programs. Early Childhood STEP includes an expanded leader's
resource guide and updated parent's handbook.

STEP Topics:
  • Understanding Yourself and Your Child
  • Understanding Beliefs and Feelings
  • Encouraging Your Child and Yourself
  • Listening and Talking to Your Child
  • Helping Children Learn to Cooperate
  • Discipline that Makes Sense
  • Choosing Your Approach
The Parents Handbook is for our
parents of children in the
elementary ages.  See below for
the Parenting book for younger
children.  The STEP programs have
existed for over 20 years and are
revised to fit the times.
